Ijen Blue Fire Night Hike (1 Night / 1 Day)

Drive overnight to Kawah Ijen, hike to the crater rim in the early hours to see the blue fire, and return the same day. Gas mask and local Ijen guide included.

See the famous Ijen blue fire and the crater lake on a single overnight trip. Expect long drives (about 8 hours each way) and a hike of roughly 2 to 3 hours. Ijen is a volcano with toxic gas: a standard mask and a local Ijen guide are included, and access can be restricted when volcanic activity is high.

Itinerary

Day 1: Pick-up and drive to Ijen

Day 2: Ijen blue fire and return

Good to know

  • Your private vehicle is matched to your group size (Toyota Avanza, Innova or Hiace). Drinking water: 1 bottle per day.
  • The blue fire is only visible in the dark, so the hike starts in the early hours.
  • Kawah Ijen is closed on the first Friday of every month: as the hike starts after midnight, if you would start on the first Thursday of a month, we recommend a longer tour such as Tumpak Sewu, Ijen & Bromo (4 Days 3 Nights), where we can re-order the route around the closure.

You pay nothing when you book. Settle the tour fee with your driver on the pick-up day — cash (IDR or EUR) or credit card (a small card fee may apply).
